Potholders

I have a bin full of yarn. I use to make blankets and toys ( stuffed animals) for kids. I like little projects now and I decided that with all the yarn I have left they are going to be potholders.

I won't buy anymore yarn, use up what I have and when I'm done and it will be time to retire the crochet hook.

My plan is to make and give them to the local humane society thrift store.

I'm also making a few red and black ones for a neighbor who is a Georgia Bull Dog fan.

These are the first dozen being donated.

  1. I have made those in my lifetime with leftover yarn. You did a great job on them. If you have a Senior center , you could also donate the leftover yarn to them. They took most of my leftover crafting material and loved getting it. The Senior Ladies have made Doll Dresses Little Scotty Dogs etc with what goods they get. It keeps those nimble hands busy and the Ladies happy to be together making things and those tongues are busy talking to one another. Lots of stories to share about their past. I have a Center just down the street from me. I used to walk to it.

    1. It's a great idea Dottie. The Senior Center has more then they can use yarn and all types of crafts. The center took a HUGE hit when Covid hit the area. So sad most passed and funding was cut to the center. This county is VERY poor and doesn't get much funding.

  2. What a nice idea Linda. These potholders look so nice. If you have enough yarn, you could also make some small blankets or lap pads. I am sure the animal rescue will sell them quickly.
Dottie, what a wonderful way to give your extra crafting items to be used. Never throw anything away, others will use them gratefully.

    1. I was working on one yesterday when I got my hair done. I made her one ( like the one I sent you) and her husband loves it. She said he loves that's it so thick. Told her I would make her a few more!

    2. I love mine. It is so thick and I can't burn myself. The potholder can also be used as a hot plate mat. I never have enough of these.
