Forever in our Hearts

I have so many photos of him but this one touched my heart today. He looks like he's looking for us to catch up with him. He would of been 11 and 1/2 on Sunday

 

Max is 11 Years old today!

 

He looks pretty good for an old dog! It's VERY hot here but he loves the bathroom and kitchen tiles.

Celebrated with some extra chicken 🎂🍰🎂

HAPPY 10th Birthday to Max

 

It's been such a long time since I have posted anything about Max. This is a brief summery of what has been going on.

Five years ago we were ready to send him over the rainbow bridge. He was so sick. Couldn't get up to walk, we had to help him stand and no appetite . He has always had a problems with his hips and vet gave him oxycontin to relieve some of the pain. I realized that  some of his condition was due to a  horrible reaction to the medication. I told Gabe to stop the meds and see what if anything would change. One day off the med ( it was more then one day- think it was closer almost 48 hours) didn't seem to make much of a difference. Called around to find a vet who would come to the house and relieve him of his pain. There are no vets in this area that come to the house and our friend Ted was gonna come over and help Gabe put him in the truck to take him to the vet.

I told Gabe that before he took him I wanted to give him one last good thing- one of his bones in the freezer.

I gave him the bone and he not only took it but wanted to go outside and eat it and on the grass! When I saw that I said to Gabe that there is no way he was ready to leave us yet. He's on three medications now ( not oxycontin) and he also goes for laser treatments once a month.

He doesn't walk very far anymore but he still goes out for 3 walks a day.

He lost  weight, which is better for his hip but every bite I take he watches me.

Happy Halloween From MM

 It's been a VERY long time since MM has made an appearance on the blog.

He's 8 years old now. Two years ago we almost had to help him cross the rainbow bridge. He was in such pain and vet put him on an opioid.  The opioid almost killed him. I realized that one of the problems was the opioid and we took him off of it.

He now gets laser treatment for this hips. He's in pretty good shape for his age.

Here's to the bonus years we have had and pray he will enjoy more years with us.

 

Max's Munchies

I use to collect cookie cutters and like my cookbooks I've given most of them away. The house is Florida is small and I don't have the room for all my treasures.

Max hasn't been feeling well and I wanted to make him something special <3








Ingredients:

1/4 cup powdered milk

3/4 cup instant  oatmeal ( not the package kind)

2 jars beef  baby food

1 tablespoon peanut butter

Directions:

Add all ingredients into a medium size bowl and mix until thoroughly combined.

Refrigerate mixture and roll and cut into desired shapes.

Cook at 350 degree for 15 min.


Watch your dog enjoy them!
