December Books

I really liked The Boy and The Dog - What an interesting and different story! It kept my interest throughout, to the end! All dog-lovers should read and enjoy! More books like this one are needed in this world and at this time.

Another really good one is The Reading ListThe Reading List brought me back to why I love to read. It will also inspire those who haven't read in a while to slow down and pick up a book. The Reading List links its characters through an anonymously written book list of recommendations. They find growth, inspiration, and each other. i am planning on going through the list and re-reading many on the list and adding some new titles to my "to be read" list !

THE GIRLS WHO STEPPED OUT OF LINE

Untold Stories of the Women Who Changed the Course of World War II- Just wonderful! A celebration of some amazing women from history, detailing their bravery, their trials and tribulations, and their tremendous successes. Inspirational and uplifting

Faith Still Moves Mountains

Miraculous Stories of the Healing Power of Prayer-book is made up of individual stories about how real people have been touched by God's hand during life altering circumstances. It is awe inspiring. A true blessing to read.

MURDER AT HARTIGAN HOUSE- Hartigan House has been closed up for ten years and, all that time, a woman’s body lay upstairs in the servant’s quarters. Pippins, the butler, found it when he arrived to reopen the house for Ginger’s arrival. Haley and Ginger called the police and who should arrive but Inspector Basil Reed with whom they had looked into a murder on their voyage to England. Now, the three have a new murder to investigate. It’s especially important to Ginger since the body was found in her family home and others seem to want to implicate her deceased father in the crime. Haley has begun her studies to become a doctor, but her skills are put to use. A second murder at a party set to duplicate the scene the night of the first complicates things. A good read with a historical setting and an eye on fashion.

The Measure- by Nikki Erlick is different. I really liked the concept (everyone receives a mysterious box with a string, the length of which dictates how long you are expected to live). I think the author raises a lot of interesting questions.

The Christmas Blessing- by Melody Carlson. The Christmas Blessings is a heartwarming Christmas story. I liked the characters and felt so sad for the dire straits and difficult choices they had to make. In that time, people didn’t look kindly on unwed mothers, and for the father to die before he was able to marry his fiancé, even before knowing about his son, leaving her penniless and without a widow’s pension, was so sad to read about. I wonder how many real women were faced with those circumstances. The ending of this story, though, was perfect and beautiful

  1. So many interesting books you read this month Linda. I do enjoy historical setting books. And mysteries are my favorite. The Boy and the Dog story sounds sad. Will have to look into some of these. I have been busy this month, so not much reading was done, but that will soon change. Thanks for all the reviews.
