I could not wait to download Murder with Darjeeling Tea (Daisy's Tea Garden Mystery #8) It did not disappoint. I love this series.
The Change was another really good one! First, it was set on Long Island- major plus. The Change is empowering and deliciously feminist. Described as “Big Little Lies meets The Witches of Eastwick,” with, we think, a tiny pinch of The First Wives Club thrown in for good measure.
I love when you give the books you read. I must tell you, a few months ago, you recommended "The Bookwoman of Troublesome CreeK. I had looked it up at that time, and couldn't find it in the library. Well, the other day, another of my friends recommended it as something I would like, so I looked it up again and yesterday, I went to the library and took it out. Usually I read on my Kindle, but I needed to have a REAL book this time. When I went to check out, the check out person said, I just returned this. It was my book club book. I started reading when I got home, and had to look up the Blue People of Kentucky, since I had never heard of them before. I learn something new every day. Soooo, I am now reading this book and enjoying it. Thanks for all your recommendations.
ReplyDeleteIt's such a great story. This book was published before another one called The Giver Of Stars. I had the Giver of Stars. It's about the same subject. I did not like it and couldn't finish, which is really rare for me. Like you I had to look up the blue people and if you check out you tube Oprah had a man who was blue. If I remember it wasn't from heredity but from a medication he took-silver colloidal. The second book is just as good as the first..
ReplyDeleteWhen I was looking up the info yesterday, I came across an article about the similarities of the Bookwoman of Troublesome Creek and The Giver of the Stars. It seems as if The Bookwoman author claimed that the other book had so many of the same words that she thought that the Giver Book had copied. I have read books by the author of Giver of Stars and I liked them, but I don't think I would read this one. I remember one of the shows on TV, I think it might have been New Amsterdam, had a case where one of the patients was blue, and they couldn't figure out why, until finally it was found, that he had the blue coloring, and they had to give him the meds that took it away. I am enjoying the book so far. I will have to put the next one on a hold. They didn't have it at the library.
