I think everyone by now has been the memes of Senator Bernie Sanders from Vermont sitting by himself at the inauguration. He wasn't dressed up, he wore warm clothing. January in Washington is cold and he knows about cold being from Vermont. Senator Sanders had on a parka from Burton Snowboards, a Vermont-based outerwear brand, and his hands nestled inside a pair of brown and cream mittens made from repurposed wool. Not just that, the wool was upcycled from old knit sweaters and lined with fleece made from recycled plastic bottles. Jen Ellis used recycled thread. The thread was from her grandmothers old sewing basket.
The photo above is mini Bernie which someone crocheted. If anyone wants the pattern it's for sale on Esty.
This article was in Slate magazine and it's a wonderful read. It's about the lady who made the mittens.
The word “Mensch”, in Yiddish, is “someone to admire and emulate, someone of noble character.
This is so cute. Amazing how some people are so talented and can get things made so quickly. I have to wonder what Bernie is thinking about all the attention he is getting.
