Mushroom Burgers

2 cups finely chopped fresh mushrooms
2 large eggs, lightly beaten
1/2 cup dry bread crumbs
1/2 cup shredded cheddar cheese
1/2 cup finely chopped onion
1/4 cup all-purpose flour
1/2 teaspoon salt
1/4 teaspoon dried thyme
1/4 teaspoon pepper
1 tablespoon canola oil
4 whole wheat hamburger buns, split

1. In a large bowl, combine the first 9 ingredients. Shape into four 3/4-in.-thick patties.

2. In a large cast-iron or other heavy skillet, heat oil over medium heat. Add burgers; cook until crisp and lightly browned, 3-4 minutes on each side. Serve on buns with lettuce.

People are scared due to Covid 19. Some stores have meat and the ones that do, prices have gone up quite a bit. Trying new meatless recipes.

I couldn't get any rolls thus I took a photo without.

Gabe will always be the meat eater in the family and I have no problems switching to just veggies.

  1. Interesting! Not sure I could get my husband on board, but definitely sounds appealing!

  2. Larry likes mushrooms and he may just try these..I know I would.I love Portabella mushrooms and sometimes you can get them big enough to make a burger out of them..Not sure how to spell that mushroom..

    1. I thought they were good, hope you and Larry like them also

  3. These look just like burgers. I am not a mushroom lover, but the kids are, so this one I will pass on to them.

    1. LOL- How I did know this one wasn't for you.

Think the kids might like it.
