Mongolian Beef

This recipe is from Jo & Sue.

This summer a local grocery store had london broil at a fantastic price. Time to make Mongolian Beef!

It's delicious! Gabe and I could not get enough of it, have to make it again.

Ingredients:

Sauce

1 Tbsp vegetable oil
1 Tbsp sesame oil
1 cup soy sauce
1 cup brown sugar
5 cloves garlic, minced
1/2 tsp ground ginger
1/4 tsp Five Spice Powder
1 cup water

Beef

2 lbs steak (I used a London Broil), sliced into 1 inch pieces
1/2 cup cornstarch
1/2 cup vegetable oil

Garnish

3 green onions, diced

Directions:

Prepare sauce - In a small saucepan combine all of the sauce ingredients. Cook and stir over medium heat until sauce thickens and is reduced - about 20 minutes or so. Set aside.

Toss the beef with cornstarch in a large bowl or add to a large plastic bag to cover the beef.

In a large, non-stick skillet, heat the vegetable oil. When it is hot, add in the beef and cook until well browned.

If all of the beef does not fit in the pan you can cook in batches.

Pour the sauce over the beef and stir so all the beef is coated. Simmer for 5- 10 minutes stirring constantly.

Remove from heat and serve, garnished with the green onions.

Serve over rice

  1. That does look delicious, Linda. I've got a bunch of recipes saved for this and never tried it....I don't think. Between that review and your fantastic photo, you've convinced me-gotta watch for some good beef sales and give this a try. :)
