Hoedown at the Lifestyle Enrichment Center

The Lifestyle Enrichment Center has classes that looked interesting and I stopped over to see if I could enroll.

Not being shy, I introduced myself to the wonderful activities director, Dawn.

I found out what classes were open and mentioned if she needed me to volunteer just give me a holler. She did and I was happy to help.

My first assignment was to make barn doors for the hoedown. I painted large sheets of cardboard and once dried we added  white paper boards to the "door". When that was done we hung our doors and as you can see they came out pretty good.

40 seniors attended the hoedown. The hall was decorated and Dawn hired a band.

A game was played where goodies were given out and then the dancing began! Dawn, with the long blond hair had a blast line dancing. Her DIL and grandson on the left of her also had fun.

I asked a few of the seniors if I could take their photo. This is Oleatha & Bernece.  Oleatha also won first prize for the best outfit!

  1. What fun! And you did a MORE THAN FANTASTIC job on those barn doors-they look real, Linda! I wouldn't have known that was painted cardboard.

It looks like a grand time was had by all. They're lucky to have you volunteer-I bet they'll be calling on you a lot helping with stuff like this.

  4. Linda you are a go getter for sure. Those seniors are lucky to have you help. Yes those doors look real. I love the smiles on their faces. Its good to see these seniors so active. Its sad to see so many seniors just sitting and wasting their golden years away.
