Can't Leave Alone Bars ( Cake Mix Recipe)

Can't-Leave-Alone-Bars

 recipe from Depo

1 box white cake mix*

2 large eggs

1/3 cup oil

1 can condensed milk ( 14 ounces)

1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

1/4 cup margarine

Directions:

Grease or spray 9"x13" pan.

In a small pan over very low heat, melt chocolate chips with the condensed milk and margarine while preparing crust.

Beat the cake mix, eggs and oil until well blended and it WILL be gooey! Clean off beaters with a spatula and spread more than 1/2 in bottom of the pan.

Stir the condense  milk mixture until smooth and spread out on crust.

Top with spoon fulls of remaining crust mixture and bake 25 minutes at 350º.

Cool and cut.

* This is an older recipe. Cake mix use to be larger-

use an upsizer

1 1/2 cups flour 1 cup sugar 2 tsp baking powder 1/4 tsp baking soda Whisk together and store in a clean jar. Add 8 tbsp whenever you need to "upsize" a cake mix. Replace 25% of the flour with baking cocoa for a chocolate cake mix.

I made these for the ladies at the library. They have been so nice to me, anytime I need a book they don't have they do a interlibrary loan.

  1. These sound yummy. What would happen if you didn't use the upsizer. Would they be that much different?

    1. When Depo first posted this recipe the amount of cake mix in the box was larger New cake mixes are 15.25 ounces compared to their previous size of 18.25 ounces, a 3-ounce difference. I always add an upsizer .If you use too little flour, your product might have wet spots and dense layers. I hope this helps.
