Sometime trash can be a treasure

This quilt was recently featured at the Trenton, Florida Quilt Show.

The story of the quilt is amazing. It was at a yard sale in a black trash bag. Someone looked in the bag and saw the quilt and asked how much and they told her ten dollars!!!

It's a huge quilt! It could easily fit on a king size bed. The squares are also hand sewed. If you look closely a heart is in the right hand corner of each square.

  1. This quilt is so beautiful. How could someone throw it out? You have to wonder if it was put out in error. I have a quilt that is very special to me. It is on my chair in my living. I am so thankful to the wonderful friend who made it for me.

    1. As mentioned each square was hand sewed. I know how much work that is and then the heart in the corner? Makes you wonder why it was even in a trash bag.

  2. Never ceases to amaze me when people discard beautiful linens. We try to rescue them as much as we can.

    1. I thought of you and your store. I bet you have stories of finding linens and wonder why they were tossed out.

  3. Oh my what a find. I have an idea that this was tossed by mistake. Know one in their right mind would throw this out as trash. But then the generation coming up and their mothers don't see the value in a homemade Quilt. I made a few for my ex D-I-L. She and my grand son and grand daughter do not have them . 😔 They didn't take care of them when my son was alive nor after.😔

    1. I like to think it was a mistake but seeing the next generation actions they don't want anything special.
