Kale Smoothie
This is delicious! Great way to use up my kale.
No source, just tossed the stuff I like into the blender.
Ingredients:
1 medium to large banana sliced and frozen
1/2 cup frozen kale*
1/4 or 1/2 cup mango cubes - frozen
1/4 cup vanilla Greek yogurt
1/2 or 3/4 cup apple juice**
1 tsp. vanilla
Directions:
Add ingredients to blender
Blend very well - until smooth
Enjoy!
* wash and dry kale and add to plastic bag. Place in freezer until ready to use. If you don't have kale in your garden the freezer section in your local market should carry it.
**add 1/2 to 3/4 of apple juice depending on how thick you want your smoothie to be.

I don't use kale, but this looks like a sure winner for those who do. Will have to share this one. Linda, you have a great way of using everything you have.
ReplyDeleteSadly this is the last of the kale. I wish I would of tried this sooner. I have a few collards left and may make one with it. The kale is delicious!!

What a lovely, wholesome smoothie, Linda, and what a beautiful colour too! Thank you for the tips on freezing kale as well! Scheduled to share on our Hearth and Soul Facebook page. Thank you for being a part of Hearth and Soul.
ReplyDeleteThanks for the shares April!
DeleteYum! Green smoothies are the best way to get in that kale! I've also heard of the trick to juice kale and freeze it into little ice cubes. That way the kale isn't that "chunky" :)

How much kale would you juice to get one ice cube tray of juice? Do you use standard ice trays or buy the tiny ones? Interesting idea.
DeleteSo for the kale to be smooth I should juice it first. I did try to make one tho didn't freeze the green, I didnt care for it being the kale didn't blend smooth
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by
