The Underwater World

Yesterday I watched a few of our vacation videos and asked Gabe how we could transfer them to You- Tube. I would love to add them to the blog but have no idea how to do it.

Today I found this fantastic Video.

I'm sure Myra and Dottie will see some of the same fish that Gabe was able to film. I don't think we got as close to film the sharks as this guy did.

One of the reasons I learned to dive was to swim with the Manta's. It was a once in a lifetime experience.

  1. You've had quite the experience in your life diving and swimming with Mantas. Something no one can take away from you...your wonderful memories.

I bet you guys will figure out how to get those videos transferred.....there has to be some kind of instructions on the web......

    1. Once we get back to Florida I'll ask someone to help me figure it out- The girl who did my hair said she is great with computers.

  2. This was so enjoyable, Linda. I've had the privilege of seeing most of those species in the film during my diving experiences, but never have been on a diving venture with Mantas! We also have a lot of films (on cd, but last year my SIL got a GoPro). It would be nice to transfer those cds. It is sad, though, to see the Caribbean coral reefs bleaching out in the more shallow depths (25'-60') over the last 15 years. And the lionfish (4:45 in your video) has become a real threat for other marine life. Thankfully, there are regular culling hunts by volunteer operators in the Cayman Islands to remove them, and chefs have found ways to prepare them as culinary delights.

    1. Hi Rita

Gabe did a trip without me ( I was a non diver) and came home with great shots of the Manta's. I was in awe of how beautiful they were. They were my motivation to learn to dive.

We saw and swan with them in Yap. We did see them at the Blue Corner in Palau, but at a distance.

We were so lucky to see healthy coral when we traveled ( which was about 20 years ago). The only places the coral was in bad shape was Grand Caymen and St. Lucia.

I heard about the lion fish. Have you eaten it? How was it?

We have to chat more about diving!!!!!

  3. I do remember some of the fish in this film. The beautiful yellow ones with the blue on the edges. I also remember some kind of a tiger or striped fish. It is just so calming to watch fish swimming. I hope you can find out how to put your films on u tube.. Somewhere on the world wide web, there must be some directions. Can you copy your disks onto your computer? You have had some real experiences diving with the Mantas. I remember you also had the best sounds on there also. Thanks for sharing this, it made me feel very relaxed.

  4. Not many can have the exciting experience you had. It sounds like you had a wonderful time. I can't even snorkel anymore & that made me crazy because we vacationed in Hawaii every year. Awesome video, I hope you can find a way to share your videos as well

    1. Problems with your ears?

We went to Hawaii but never did a dive there.

    2. Yes, I had a perforated ear drum. Was advised to not even snorkel because even more than 20yrs later, I had ear pain after swimming. We usually visit Maui every year to see old high school friends. Both our best friends from high school live there :)

    3. We were on the "big" Island. We were coming back from one of our trips and we stayed for a few days.

Such a beautiful place to visit!

    1. Oh Angela - The stories I could tell you! I loved diving but BOATS did not like me. Every single time I would step foot on one I would get seasick. You know I was the first one in the water for the dive!

Finally found Triptone. It was the only medication that worked.

  6. Linda I treasure the CD you sent me. It is so relaxing to watch. I was telling my friend that has to do therapy where he is put in this body tube. Its the kind they put divers in that have the bens from coming up to fast. The name of the machine is on the tip of my tongue and I can't think of what its called. Anyway the let him chose what he would like to watch. I mentioned your CD.
You and Gabe have had your share of wonderful adventures together and Myra and I are blessed to have shared some of them.
My son knows how to tranfer movies to You Tube. I will send him a message and ask how its done. My laptop is down at the moment and I'm using my nook. Hopefully he can send directions . I hope you are able to do this. I know they will get a lot of hits..
