"I've got a picture of my wife there in my backpack right next to my back,” he said. “I said, ‘I don’t know if I can do this by myself, but I know darn well that the two of us, we can do it.’ There’s nothing we can’t do if we’re together."
Dean Troutman plans to walk 700 miles to raise money for playground equipment on the 5.75 acres of land he donated to the community in memory of his wife, Peggy.
BTW- Mr. Troutman is 84 years old! They were married 62 years.
Article from the myjournalcourier.
What an amazing man-and what an amazing thing he's doing. The love he has for his wife is obvious-62 years and she's still with him every day. He's an inspiration....and talk about giving....what he's done for his community is beyond wonderful. He's put his heart and soul into that park and given everything he has. I hope he raises a caboodle of money on his loving mission. I'm sure Peggy has seen what he's done and is smiling down from heaven.
ReplyDeleteGod bless you Mr.Troutman.
I thought it was a good article and wanted to share it when we got back.
DeleteSo very inspirational! I do believe Mr. Troutman and his wife will reach their destination and goal. What a legacy for his community. Kudos to Mr. Troytman for taking on this project at his age.
ReplyDeleteWelcome back, Linda. Hope you are slowly settling back in to your home.

Welcome back to Long Island Linda.......I hope you are getting unpacked and used to the life back up north. Bet your neighbors were happy to see you all.
ReplyDeleteVery inspirational story. This man is amazing. Some people who are much younger would never be able to do what he is doing. What a wonderful tribute to his wife. I also hope he raises the money for what he wants to do. Why aren't there more people like him? This world would be such a better place for us all.
Saw Jake the first day we got back. He was in the truck with his father and he jumped up of the truck before his father stopped it! He ran over and gave me a huge hug. He's gotten so big.
Deleteso glad to see you are back on the blog. Happy you had a safe trip. Now all of yall can settle down to your northern life style. Enjoy love and miss you
