AKA "Fish Slice"

Do you have a few too many spatulas hanging around in your kitchen? I do. Why, I don't really know. I see them at yard sales and flea markets and if I can buy one for under 50 cents I feel like I got a deal.

The older ones are the best, they last forever.

Love that they have a "nickname" and they sort of existed   back in ancient Babylonia and Egypt.

  1. LOL, A "Child Cheater"...this is a good one. How many children loved to lick the bowl, and are cheated out of doing that with this?? Very interesting, I learned lots about the Spatula today. I just used my rubber one before to clean the bowl...so guess I used my "Child Cheater".

  2. I love "child cheater" too.....never thought of it that way. I'm like you Linda....I have a BIG collection of spatulas I've picked up here and there....both metal and rubber scrapers.....I love them all. They all serve a certain purpose. Bob particularly likes the extra wide one I have when he flips his egg over easy....the right spatula really does help in the kitchen that's for sure.

  3. I loved the Child Cheater also. I always made sure there was a little something in the bowl for the kids to get. I have lots of them also. Most of them are collecting dust as I don't cook that much anymore. Now that Larry is retired he does the cooking. But not always the food that I can have. So I still do some cooking for things I can have .

  4. I think James Beard is right. I've picked up quite a few myself and the rubber spatulas are not well made here. They come apart so easily after multiple uses. I guess I just use mine so much that I wear them out. the only ones that are lasting are the Martha Stewart rubber spatula's that I received as a gift. I have two containers on the counter that have a good 20 in each. the metal ones I keep in a drawer and I have a variety of sizes too. Yup, if they have their own drawer? I'm addicted to buying them
