This made me smile when I saw it. Leta was telling me how the squirrels are eating her shrubs. She sits on the porch with her sling shot that Ted gave her and she has a pocket full of rocks. Whenever she see's a squirrel near her bushes those rocks are a flying!
Marlene's father in law feeds the squirrels so he might be amused with the above photo.
I posted some Halloween photos of tiny Alachua and Here is an article on three small towns, three big celebrations that you might want to read.
Hahaha thief! Animals are so mischievous!
ReplyDeleteHe would never get that pumpkin at Leda's house, she's waiting for them!
DeleteOMG that's right! I can just see her there with that slingshot in her hand... waiting for just the right moment
DeleteLOL thinking of Leta and her sitting there with a slingshot. I thought right away of Granny of the Beverly Hillbillies with her shotgun..Has she ever gotten one of those critters with her slingshot?
ReplyDeleteEnjoyed reading the stories of the towns and Halloween. I had heard of Salem Mass and the witches, but never the other ones. Interesting how they all have so much going on Halloween week. I used to go all out, but not any more. I have one decoration outside and 2 scarecrows in the house. This is the extent of my decorations. I will sit outside and give out the treats when the kids come by......the little ones I like to see, but when the big ones come.....get away. One year, I had a bunch of stickers, and when the big kids came, I gave them stickers, they were not happy. The big kids don't even dress up, they grab a pillow case and that is it.
The older kids come here also. Leda gives candy to the kids but has a male friend come over and sit with her because she's afraid of the older kids.
DeleteOh my God HAHAHAHAHAH-darn those squirrels-one of them is definitely in the Halloween frame of mind! That's too cute.
ReplyDeleteGO LETA! It's SO much fun to see a 90-plus woman get her pleasure from dingin' a squirrel with a rock shot from her trusty slingshot. Oh that's too cute......and I bet when she hits one she gets a very sly smile on her face. :)
We don't give out candy any more. Had to leave it in a bowl outside when we had the 2 dogs-the door bell ringing would drive them wild which would make Bob crazy and I was ready to lock all 3 of them outside. We used to have a slew of kids-they'd come by the van loads.....now? All of none. After getting stuck with candy 2 years in a row I said no more. Light stays off and that's it.
and you know what is sick- she is a better shot then I ever was-LOL
DeleteLinda we need a pic of the great hunter Leda. She brought home the meat with her mighty sling shot. I can just picture her.
ReplyDeletewe sure do dottie!
