Back in Florida

Sunday around midnight we were on the road. I'm so glad I tossed a warm jacket in the back seat. It was 41 degrees when we left- cold!

We didn't have a problem going through the city but did hit some traffic in Washington. Once we were past DC, traffic was light all the way to Lake City.

Overnight was in Florence, South Carolina. We always stay at the Red Roof Inn. The place is clean and accepts dogs plus the fact there is a Olive Garden across the street. Gabe loves Olive Garden. It's about the only time he gets to enjoy pasta, since he doesn't get much pasta at home.

We drove for 14 hours and we were tired. As we waited for our meal a lady who had eaten stopped by our table. Remember Troll Dolls? The lady had hair just like one of the dolls. She zoomed in on me and started talking to me like we were buddies. At one point she said " I'm having a bad hair day" and I thought- honey you sure are!

After she left Gabe said that I sure do attract them. I said it was because I'm just sweeter then sweet tea which made him laugh so hard he had tears rolling down his cheeks.

Arrived at the house around 10 and then the unpacking began. The back of the truck was packed solid. We had the crate in the back seat for the little prince with his bone to snack on. Max made himself very comfortable. He pushed the blankets in the crate to the front of the crate to make a "pillow". The only thing he was upset about was when Gabe told him he had his last bite of a NY bagel.

Once we were unpacked we needed to run to the grocery store to pick up a few things and then home to see Leda.

I surprised her. I told her we were coming in on Wednesday. She looks good and I was lucky because Ted and Marie came to visit. I'm so lucky to have such wonderful people in my life.

Gabe was been drooling for wings so we went out and he got to have his hot wings. His reward for getting us here safely.

  1. I'm glad the long drive is over and you made it to Florida safe and sound. OMG Linda, I remember troll dolls-I can ONLY imagine what that lady's hair looked like. Hope it wasn't the same color hair as one of those dolls-YIKES! Although I will say some days I probably resemble them in the hairdo department-I just don't leave the house.

Gabe must have been VERY happy to have some pasta. What did you have?

And all he had to do was ask me-I could have told him you're sweeter than sweet tea! :)

I bet Leda is THRILLED to have you back home. Nice you got a visit from Ted and Marie.

Now sit down and say AHHHHHH..............that's another thing off the list. You can take your time with the rest of it.

    1. Carol, you know I didn't have pasta! Had the salad and soup and the breadsticks. Max loves the breadsticks so had to save him a half of one.

    1. Cyndy- the lady zooming in on me happens ALL the time. When we were having lunch at a rest stop, a lady came over and told us this very sad story and wanted money. I didn't have any cash on me so I couldn't help. Gabe said it was a scam . I watched her. She went to everyone at the rest stop and did get some money. When she went back to the truck ( a trucker was giving her a ride, or so she said) she waved the money and ran to the truck. So who knows if she did need help or that money went to other things.

  4. Welcome back to Lake City. I sure hope your cold is all gone, both ways, the temp and you. Sounds like you had an uneventful trip back, and the lady with the hair was a highlight!

Leda must be so happy you are back, and I bet it doesn't even feel like you ever left. You must be exhausted, so take it easy and rest up and enjoy the easy life in Fl. Ted must be happy Gabe is back, and hopefully the people he will be taking on the tour will appreciate his work. Pretty soon you will be cooking and baking and enjoying the warmth. Happy you got there safe and sound.

  5. So good to hear that you have arrived safe and sound! Funny how people will talk so easily to complete strangers! Oh yea, I am like that! :-) You know, if you had Snap Chat on your phone you could have discreetly taken her picture and flooded the net with 2014 troll hair do's!

All unpacked and company already! How great is that! When do you expect to see Gregory? Hopefully soon. Glad you were able to surprise Leda. She must be thrilled to have you back.

Get some rest now and settle in nicely to the warmer temps. Enjoy!

Gregory will be back the first week in November. He's out for 4 weeks this time.

I have to admit it sure is nice to wear my shorts and sandals again- I might even keep my tan I worked on this summer!

    1. You know what Max loves Dottie? The A/C! We don't have it in NY and he sure loves the cool tile.

I hope we can find another dog for him to play with.
