The Pink Suit by Nicole Mary Kelby

The  First Lady represented our country through those horrific hours dressed in her pink suit with her husband's blood all over her for the world to see 51 years ago today. That pink suit will forever be remembered by people around the world.

Historical fiction is my favorite category of books. I enjoy the bits of facts and fiction. The period details were subtle and accurate . Everything was simpler, the world slower, but fashion was having a revolution.

In Ms. Kelby's novel the question is - how did the iconic pink suit Mrs. Kennedy was wearing that awful day in November come into existence?

With the design of the suit comes the back story of how it was made and who made it and what affect it had on the lives of the people who were involved with the suit.

  1. Oh how I remember that day-hard to believe it was so long ago. I can still see Jackie Kennedy's blood covered pink suit in my mind. Hard to believe 51 years have gone by. She was a fashion icon....everyone wanted to dress like the First Lady....she always looked so elegant-sort of regal.

You're so right Linda-life was simpler and SO much slower....which I think is a good thing-and I sure do miss it.

  2. Life was simpler back then, not so darned complicated as it is now. I remember seeing the suit & it looked like a classic Chanel if I remember correctly. She always was a stylish woman. I remember the day it happened. Believe it or not, I was in 1st grade. Mrs Randall or came back in from recess, she had tears in her eyes. She told us that President had died. We were 6 yrs old, we didn't know what to think. All we knew was that the teacher was upset & crying. When I got home from school, mom was in tears too. She explained what happened & we watched it on TV. It wasn't until yrs later that I fully understood what happened.

    1. I was in middle school and our homeroom teacher ran out of the room, never said anything to us. Found out when we got out of school.
