Another

thing checked off the bucket list!

I always wanted to do something good for a community on Thanksgiving. Last year we moved into the house and I didn't know the Presbyterian Church did a free holiday meal for anyone in town that wanted a nice hot meal. My neighbor, Sharon is a member of the church and gave me the phone number of the person who organizes the meal and was delighted I wanted to help.

I went three days. The first day we prepared the turkey's . The second day we made the dressing and turkey day there was lots to do.

My name wasn't mentioned in the photo but  those who know me can spot me right away!

  1. What a great thing to do Linda-and I know your help was greatly appreciated! I bet you were pooped out at the end. I worked many a church turkey supper and know how much work they are...and people bought tickets....I can only imagine how crazy busy a free turkey dinner must have been.

    Yup I see ya! :)

  2. I spotted you right away Linda. Yes that is what I would like to do also. It would give meaning to the holidays for me. I'm alone on those days and it would be so nice to take my turkey to them.

    1. Find a place and go Dottie! So many places need volunteers.

  4. Bruce and I volunteer at St. Michaels church on Christmas Eve night every year serving a free meal. I do know what you mean about the 3 days though. As we make lefse and also bake and debone the turkeys the 2 days before. It is a lot of fun and you get to meet a lot of people . I just love it.

    1. They had a group of men debone the turkeys. Someone from another charity came and picked up all the bones. Nothing went to waste on those birds!
